Renate Higgins
I came to Texas in 1970. I couldn’t get here quick enough!  I graduated
from Copperas Cove High School.  During high school I worked for several
restaurants.  After graduating I continued working in the restaurant field
and eventually worked my way into management, at which time I also
worked on my business management degree.  Although I liked working in
the restaurant field I had always wanted to be in the veterinary field.  So, I
began to pursue this.

In 1984 I saw an add for a position open at a small animal veterinary
practice in Killeen, Tx.  I responded and was interviewed.  I was hired!  It
was the best thing that could have happened to me!  During my small animal
experience I also took a veterinary technician course to further my
knowledge about various animals and techniques in their treatment and
handling.  Even though I worked in the small animal field for quite some
time, I decided to pursue working for an equine veterinary practice.

About 10 years ago I began working for Dr. T’s Equine Clinic.  I really love
what I am doing and have never regretted  changing my field of
employment.  I enjoy the clients and their horses.

On a more personal note, I have raised three sons John and the twins Kurt
and Kyle.  I enjoy my horses, dogs and cats in my spare time and take every
opportunity I can to ride.
